ice and snow

I recently spent a few days up in snow country where it was cold and misty. I was remembering this artwork by Agneta Hobin I saw in the Transformations exhibition a while back ( Ghiacciaio 2205).
It is so evocative of shimmering ice and frost. It is a textile construction of chiseled and suspended fragments of shimmering Muscovite ( mica). It was spectacular to see, like a curtain of light sparkling ice. Its still one of the best sculptures I have seen.

the shark party

The kids loved the pinata, the shark looked even more ferocious spinning around and the kids hitting it with sticks! Luckily there were no injuries.

dark nights

It close to the winter solstice here, so we were inspired to go into the city to see the Vivid Festival evening 'Fire Water' show at the Rocks. It was fantastic, the best part was being part of a crowd, rugged up, standing by a open fire watching the opera house change colours.
I took these photos looking across to Luna Park, couldn't resist the purple reflections.

Shark alert

My son is having his 4th birthday and its a Shark party, my dad made this beautiful paper mache shark pinata for it. It looks pretty mean, but it does have purple glitter on it and lots of lollies inside!
